what do you all think is faster for my low $1500-$2000 budget? late 80s-early 90s of course
Toyota Celica
Acura Integra
Dodge Daytona
Ford Probe
Toyota Supra
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Other
most likely i will be leaning towards the Celica or the Supra. What do you guys think?

The best bang for the buck IMO is the Daytona or a DSM. They can both be made to go WAY fast for little money, and the are both VERY reliable.

I think the Supra if it's the Supra that comes to mind...will kill everything here...
Supra TT that is...320HP inline 6 twin turbo...6 spd manual!

yeah I'd have to go with a shelby daytona, broken transmissions and snapped timing belts plague DSM's and that stuff gets costly, obviously the supra has the most potential period but you're talking 20-30K for a USED high mile car, fook that.

so it comes down to Daytona and Supra =)
the Celica is way cheaper, how would you compare a Celica to a Supra?

I'm voting for the Dodge Daytona because I'd have to disagree with a DSM being very reliable... especially that trans..
a turbo'ed 2.2L with 174 hp and 200 lb/ft sounds pretty good... What kind of potential are we talking about here, folks?
and NISSANSPDR.. I think you totally missed the point of his $1500-2000 budget.. But the MKIV Supra TT would have the most potential though..

A LOT. You all have seen the 10 second K-Car that dropped a Supra like a bad habit, and if you haven't I can post it. In my opinion any car with the 2.2L I4 with the Turbo II option is the best bang for the buck. Hell they even come with a German Getrag forged five speed, the A-555 and A-568 have been called the most badass transaxles ever, all they need is to replace the open differential with an LSD. Certain years of the DSMs have problems from 1995 - 1997 the rest are fairly reliable. Or so I hear, BTW I did vote for the Daytona of course. I could ramble on about the Turbo II all day, but I'll refrain.
For the price the Daytona can be the fastest for the least cash.

As much as i hate to say it, but i think the Supra. It has way more acceleration than the Daytona and i think it can beat it top speed. Im no import guy but thats how i see it.

Stop for a second. His budget is 1500-2000 dollars. There is no way in hell he's getting a 94+ Supra TT for 2K. Ain't gonna happen.
Edit: I say the 94+ because of the numbers quoted for the Supra

How much would a decent milage early 90s or late 80s Supra be priced at on average?

you're talking about the mk3 supra yes?
you could find one in that price range with a turbo on it...
decent mileage would be 100k or less...
the mkiv starts in 93.
so the older body isn't a bad start...
i know of one here for 3k. nice car, under 100k miles, and no problems with it... no rust. dark blue...
so you can find one

r u kidding me? How come i can only find 85-91 Supras just barely reaching my budget on autotrader.com and cars.com . Are those the wrong places to look? Where should i look besides messege boards? Nothing wrong with messege boards, its just that i dont want to buy a car from someone accross the nation.

haha, the cheapest 93+ supra you will find is roughly 15K, for a high mile one at that, most are 20+

Nope...well i can say this. I know a guy who bought a 95 Supra that was crashed for 1,500 dollars. It had 80,000miles on it. He spent 3,500 fixing it. That wasn't bad at all.

WOODBRIGE BABY! You're right over in Fairfax, so not too far of a trip. But yea, in Woodbridge, along Rt. 1, it seems like car dealerships are the only businesses on the street. There are literally like over 15 in a short span of the highway there:)

Not really sure about a specific dealer. Haven't purchased anything from any of the dealers there. But I have looked around down there more times than I can remember. Know there's plenty of stuff and some really good deals if you have the patience to hold off on buying the first thing you see:) That's what I did when I got my 95 Z28. Literally the FIRST Camaro we looked at. It had good mileage and no mechanical flaws or anything so it wasn't necessarily a bad buy or anything. Just now I wish I had held off and gotten something with t-tops and in a different color:D

You do know the 89 SHO is faster and quicker than the 89 SC? If you are interested I also have an article that I can send you a link to.

Oh yeah,
www.shoshop.com, www.shonutperformance, and there are more, I just can't think of them right now. The most powerfull SHO I have been in has 445.6 HP to the wheels with 15#s of boost(approx 530 at the crank). Damn that was fun, you can see that car here (www.coloradoshoclub.com).

I say mustangs especially the 4.6 cobras and comaros have the best potential. Both of these cars react very well to mods. Thy will run all over supras because most of the supras ur gonna find are gonna have high milleage and possibly just worn out, and they are more expensive
