This is a joke right? You know that SRT-10 Ram KILLS the lightning in every aspect including looks.

This seems to be a concept to me as I have never heard of it. Also, why would they make a truck that is far more superior than their flagship sports car, the Mustang? This though would kill the Mustang, that wouldn't make sense to me. Have any links to back that up?

427

it wouldn't kill the mustang, b/c people who buy trucks, regardless of their handling and power, will not buy them instead of sports cars.

someone who wants a truck first and then a sports car would buy one, but the mustang market is so strong... and it's driven by women, who buy em like crazy.

so the mustang won't have problems.

that's like saying that the dodge ram 500, which is the other unofficial name, would take away from viper sales....

Well, I understand that it exsists, but like I said, it is a concept. The difference is that the SRT-10 is scheduled for production.

My point is that this truck would have far more power than a Mustang does. Why would they build a truck that is more powerful than their flagship sports cars, much like why Chrysler won't build a Hemi car from the factory that could take down the Viper.

I am not talking about cutting into sales, I am talking about a truck that can beat the Mustang without a problem.

EDIT:

And as usual, supercharged. Can't Ford make anything fast N/A?

the current lightning has more power than the mustang as well with 360 or 380, depending on the year... so it's apparently not a big problem...

i'm not sure why they like to go with the s/c... interesting topic...

polygon's point is that this now lightning weould be way more powerful than the mustang and would murder it. And i agree with him that most likely ford would not like their flagship car murdered by one of their own truks.

they're not in the same market though...

truck guys don't buy a truck instead of a sports car. even one of these two monsters.

i work in the sport truck aftermarket specifically, and the guy that'll buy that truck would buy a mustang too... or something faster.

if he's gonna be shelling that kinda cash (whatever a 500hp lightning would cost), he's above the mustang range anyways... he'd be buying something like a vette...

It's all to easy to gain cheap publicity by slapping together yet another 'concept' vehicle with sky-high power/performance claims ... yet impossible to judge them before production specifications are finalised and approved, and the vehicle is actually sold to the public

that can be said for a lot of concepts cars...

viper...
lighting (when it first came out)
prowler
audi tt
porsche boxter

there's alot of concepts that were out there and then came to life...

the ram 500 isn't all the way there either... remember that...

Too true

On the subject of performance 'truck' concepts - if by chance you haven't seen it before - I think this 465hp HSV Maloo has great potential
