dash lights do not turn on

When I turn my lights on the dash lights do not come on for several minutes. The head lights come on without a hitch. As it has become colder this winter, it takes longer for the lights to come on. After the engine has warmed-up the dash lights come on. Sometimes I can slowly turn the switch on and the dash lights will come on, but as soon as the head lights come on the dash lights go out again. I also think that my rear lights are being affected by this. Could there just be a short in the switch somewhere? Is this something that I can fix myself?

it can be a short some where...but before more thigns start to screw up u sould get it checked...and check the fuse...
