Install the upper intake manifold bolts using the following procedure:
Coat a minimum of 8 threads of the bolts with threadlocking sealant GM P/N 12345493.
Tighten • Tighten the bolts in sequence to 8 N·m (72 lb in).
• Re-tighten the bolts in sequence to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

1997 Suburban 7.4L engine with 160K miles on it. This is number 5 Intake Manifold gasket replacement. The first three IM gasket replacements were done at three different GM garages. A brand new GM lower IM was installed on 3rd repair. I replaced IM gasket 4th time with 136K miles on engine in June 2005. Used Victor Reinz brand IM gasket. Tapped each bolt hole for debris. Installed all new GM IM bolts. Used locktite as per GM service manual. I'm at a loss for permanent fix other then to replace engine or burb.
I'd like to post pictures of IM gasket. Any instructions for posting pics?
Thanks.

For posting pic's you have to sign up for a web hosting service such as "photobucket" or something similar.
Also most all the "heavyweights" on here recommend the FelPro gasket sets.
Check out the "DIY intake" link in the Silverado forum. Keep in mind that this forum is for the 5.7 only but has some good tips for all.
