power locks

I just got an alarm put in, so when i arm the system it makes the locks lock too, but it only sends one pulse and the 2 back doors dont lock all the way. is there a way to make it so the back lock modules can move more free and lock on one pulse like the front ones?

Are your rear lock actuators old and slow to begin with?

My car does the same thing except only on the right rear door. I thought you could just spray WD-40 or something down there and it would get "unstuck" but i heard that its because the actuators or whatever powers it are just old and need to be replaced. I wonder why its only the back doors.

Yup.....Mine do the same. Only the rear and I have to hit the switch about 5 times to drop the locks all the way. Maybe more when its's cold out.

Okay, here's the story.... My car never came with power locks. I bought a parts station wagon two years ago that had them. The power locks acted similar to everyone's in the thread (the windows were slow as hell too). Its because all the moving parts built up a bunch of crap and friction. When I opened up all the doors to take the power locks and windows out to tranfer to my Caprice I tired something. With everything still in the wagon I used some motor oil in a little squirter and squirted all the moving parts and sliders. It was as if I put the locks on steroids. I switched them up and down repeatedly as I oiled them and they worked excellent after that. It helped out the windows big time too. Now the whole power locks and windows system is in my Caprice and everything works great, locks all engage in perfect synchronization instantly, even if you just flick the lock switch. Do that, Pop your door panel off and using some sort of lubricant spray all moving parts and sliders (sliders are the big ones in terms of friction). WD-40 will work great, but tends to wear off pretty quickly and you'll find yourself going at it again in a couple of months. Thats why I used motor oil, thick enough to stick around, but not so thick that it makes things worse in the cold.

Yeah not to mess up this forum or anything but my windows are also pretty slow. I figured this was because of the gaskets around it are hard as a rock but i'll have to try spraying all the moving parts with oil or something when i find the time

Im gonna try to lube the locking mechanism first and see if that does anything, the rubber on the bottom of my windows are all new so im sure its just the motors

Also new power door lock mechanisms arent cheap, i checked rockauto, 40 bucks each

Where did you find new window weather seals!? I was told they were discontinued. Mine are horribly shot, If I can find some new ones, that'd be sweet.

hi guys: on my two boxers i had the same thing with the rear power locks failing to lock or unlock ( thats bad ) so i whipped the door panels off and found the rod from the actuators going over to the latch area rides on the door just below the rear Quarter window that had let in water over the years rusting the rods. i cleaned and lube it and found that the outside of the lower seal on the Quarter window was letting in the water so a small amount of black silicon thats a very small amount forced in buy the glass/rubber and the edge of the chrome to rubber made a factory looking job. now those power locks run like new.

I was gunna ask the same question! The rubber around my windows are so dried out that on the drivers door theres just a gaping crack where leaves and debris can fall through.

They were on there when i got the car, the rubber at the bottom of the glass is new, but on the sides yeah mine is shot too, some is even missing and you can hear road noise at high speeds
