Well the 4runner is a friends, I dont do trucks and SUV's. I can't stand them honestly..feels like a big cluster of garbage driving down the road.
As far as the rims go , I have no idea I was just strolling through a pawn shop one day for shits and giggles and noticed them stacked in a corner by some Tv's so I popped over to check them out and they had the DSM center cap so I asked him if I could take one out side and swap with the factory wheel and he said yeah and it fit so I paid 200.00 for them with the Eagle RS-A's. They have wheel locks so no stealy steal.

I've put a lot of damn work into it. When I originally purchased it the interior was spray painted yellow..yes even the seats , dash , headliner , door panels , back seats , back panels , hatch interor , they spray painted hald of the upper portion of the windshield with yellow , put a big yellow 'racing' stripe down the left side of the back window , audio was literally torn out of the car wires and broken plastic everywhere , the carpet had mold in it , there was no fuel tank cover , no hvac switches or tubing , the windows only rolled up half way , the alarm kept making the car go bonkers , was throwing like 30 CEL's ...ugh..lol so much time invested and it barely looks reasonable now.
What the hell could be worse right ?

Now for more pictures...of my free 420A motor tear down process... Now its bare , I am taking it in for an acid bath on wednesday and getting it bored probably friday or monday after. The crank has a few 'minor' scars so I am going to see if it can be saved in anyway.

Not as clean as I was hoping for but the caustic solution did a fair job of getting the aged grime and gunk and such forth off. The inside though is basically spotless.

If you want it to stay clean looking then avoid painting it any bright colors. White, silver, red, etc... Instead go with a darker color. Dark gray or black... Of course the advantage to a brighter color is that you will be able to spot any leaks rather quickly as opposed to using a darker color... Just something to think about before doing it. :2cents:

I've found that oven cleaner works really well to clean grease and crap off blocks and such.
I'd just paint it with some spray can engine enamel from advance auto parts/autozone. Cast is annoying as hell to paint though, but it works.

Paint it with some rattle can Duplicolor Engine Enamel. Shit sticks great. And I agree with Brian, use a darker color if you want it to keep a very clean look, otherwise you'll see dirt much easier on a light color.

I thought we were opposed to the Rattle Cans:confused:
Usually yes, on anything that needs a near perfect finish, but its an engine block, so who really cares if it picks up a piece of gravel here or there. And the prep for rattle can is usually much easier, and then there is always the cost. I don't know many people that paint their motors with good can-based paint. I'll be doing it on a couple of projects in the near future, but other than that, it's all rattle can in the engine bay.

Lots of luck and fast reaction time =)
When I first inspected the car it looks as if though someone used 60 - 80 grit sand paper in an attempt to 'polish' the headlights but ended up digging so deep into the plastics that they totally screwed them beyond repair..it wasn't ever on the top of my list to get fixed until recently now that I am on the odds and ends portion of fixing the car up. It sure was nice to see more than 10 feet in front of my car last night though =)

Correct..the are no rod pieces really left lol..The piston wasn't even in there so wtf ? Also upon further inspection the block itself is fine so if you want one still , this one will be ready to go as soon as I drop it off at my machine shop for the cleaning and cylinder inspection. Crank is in good shape as well , no spun bearings or anything..friggin rod just pooper out :/

This thread should go in the Projects sections as it's an ongoing thread about your progress. Just my opinion.
Also, I'll still take it. Again, I'm moving right now, so give me some time to get the money and all that together. Now where can I find a main cap?
Why CC? Do you really use CC that much? Most people take it out of their car. To me it's pointless, and was making my TB not open all the way.
And for the wipers, I would say somethings not hooked up right. Like a wire in the wrong spot or something.
Also, I'll still take it. Again, I'm moving right now, so give me some time to get the money and all that together. Now where can I find a main cap?
Why CC? Do you really use CC that much? Most people take it out of their car. To me it's pointless, and was making my TB not open all the way.

This thread should go in the Projects sections as it's an ongoing thread about your progress. Just my opinion.

I have another block I can fo snag the main off. An overabundance in fact lol...The crank is in good condition and when it goes in for the cleaning i'll have them inspect and resurface the crank..I get good discounts =)
I would love to have CC since I do a crap load of freeway driving and I hate constantly pushing the pedal down :/
As for the wipers , there isnt really anyway to hook them up wrong :/ I'm wondering though if the wiper motor for the RS and the GS ^ have different relays or regulators....

Ah I see. I don't see why they'd be different relays. I thought all versions had the same wiper assemblies.

The wheel is turned 90 degrees to the left, and he took the pic sideways. Look where the cluster is at.

Lmao...Nah man its where it belongs I just took to different angled shots with with the wheel straight and another when it was turned. Having the lever down there would be weird for sure lol..

Mine had CC. It's kinda weird. I only used it coming home late night on expressways. Get it up in 5th, and then set it and forget it. If you hit the clutch the rpms would just go up :) Ended up taking it out because of the opening problem and the fact that I would basically be ready to fall asleep while using CC. To keep myself awake I have to be doing as much as possible and be blasting loud music.
I wish I had kept the actual unit to sell. I think I just threw it out. May still be in the garage somewhere though.

If you push the clutch in or take the car out of gear with the cruise control on the ECU will dissable cruise control just like if you hit the brakes.
