I was driving my 1998 Burb, when all of a sudden it started to jerk and the abs light came on. I threw it into Neutral and motor seemed to be running ok with abs light still on. But when i put it back into gear it would jerk again. Has any one ever came across this problem. I don't know if this is releated but the 4wd does not engage when I press any button other than the 2wd button it flashes. ( the Burb was in 2WD when this problem happened):banghead:

You need to find a ABS capable scanner and read codes.
Also read the codes after the light comes on before shutting key off.
Key off will clear a lot of ABS codes.

In most cases a ABS code will disable 4W.
Need codes for more info or help with it.

235 and 237 codes are for the rear speed sensor or circuit problem.

code 281 is stop light switch or circuit problem.

You have two codes for a speed sensor or circuit.
And if you have a snap on scanner.
Check out the speed sensor or circuit or wiring.
You can watch the MPH reading in scanner and see if it is doing anything.

All data online sub or a good factory repair manual gives the repair flow charts for the codes.
Go threw the repair flow chart for the codes.

Off hand I would say you have a bad rear speed sensor on the transfer case.
But the sensor is in the 100-150$ range
So it needs testing before throwing parts at it.
Also clear codes and see what returns and test it when it is acting up.
For the brake light switch code I would clear it and see if it returns or you can watch brake light switch on and off in scanner data.
