Open the right rear barn door and it should be behind the panel on the right side of the rear cargo area. That's where it is on my 97 GMC Suburban.

Thanks for the forum - 1st post

I've got the same problem on my '97 Suburban with rear AC and heat: antifreeze smell inside, wet carpet in the back. Figure I've got a bad heater core. I'd like to take it out and look at it to be sure. I'm down to the large black hard plastic case that houses the heater core/AC exchanger. Looks like I need to pull the heater and AC lines off from the underside. My question is: Do I need special tools to pull the AC lines off of the exchanger from the underside of the rig? If not, how do those lines come off?

Welcome to AF!

First, you will need to have the A/C system evacuated with a recovery machine.

From there, if it has regular hex fasteners, get a wrench to fit both sides. If it has the spring-lock, you will need the disconnect set. You should be able to get one from just about any auto parts store.
