I have a 97 Suburban with 190k on the clock.
I like to run the 4wd occasionally when opportunity arises. Recently, I went to push the on-dash 4wd high button and the lights just kept flashing and then they all three stayed on. A friend had had a similar problem and suggested I replace the 4wd on dash selector switch. I did that today and then there were no lights or function at all from the switch, after starting the truck. So, I check the the 4WD fuse, OK. I checked the transfer case fuse, blown. Replaced that fuse and turned key on, and all three lights on the 4wd switch come on for about 5 seconds and then all three go out again. There is still no function or lights that ooccur when I push any of the buttons again. Any ideas. I have searched here and come up empty...
Thanks

Sounds like it is the acuator on the side of the T-case is frozen up. I would remove the assemble and clean it . While i had it off i would check the Tcase side and manually engage the tcase to make sure it moves free. make sure you put it back in 2wheel then reassemble.use a little light grease when you put it back together. it should work if not then check to see if you front axle is engaging there is an electric plunger that pushes it in to engage if all that is working then most likey the passenger side axle has moved out and the thrust washer frell preventing you from engageing. not hard to fix just time really
