Scientology

What is Scientology?

I'll tell you what it is: It's the greatest pyramid scam known to man kind. That's what it is. It boasts up to 80,000,000 (yes) members world wide.

Holy shit.

People slam computer geeks and World of Warcraft fans (9 million players) who pay monthly, and I bet you some of those slammers are followers of this stupid, stupid cult. That's right, it's a cult, much like what Christianity was in Rome pre A.D313, a superstition, except, Christianity had its moral and ethical boundries, teachings of kindness and promise of eternal life, what does Scientology offer? Bankrupcy and the promise that one day our billion-year-old alien captive master Xenu (warrior prince rofl!) we will be free.

Genius.

The guy scams milions of people, gets a few coked up celebs who can't find their feet to walk on to be the public 'face' and WHAM you have a legal cult and a get-rich-scheme. Dead at 90, a multimilionaire. And a flat-faced Liar.

That's right, I said it, the leader (now dead, and probably burning in hell) Ron Hubbard is a fucking liar. Not only did he create this scam he LIED to everyone about who he was. He claims he was a 'war hero' but was discharged TWICE in one year.*

What started out as a stupid idea for a sci-fi theme'd scam cult ended up a sci-fi themed cult, brilliant.

Stupid humans and their stupid cults.

Now, I'm all for believe what you want, and good for them for being conned into something so retarded but this is just pathetic.

Even Athiests have a decent enough reason to denounce every religion, because this "cult" is talking about made up imaginative futuristic coming-of Christ alien bullshit.

To any scientologists reading this; HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, AAAAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH lol rofl omg..

Space Nazi...

Probably one of the last exports the U.S. has is religion. A couple of home grown ones like Scientology and the Mormon church, tossed in with the evangelistic Christian churches, mixed well with a little snake oil salesman ship and tent revivals from the 1800's and you've got a cash cow. How do I cash in and become a prophet?

You don't become a prophet. You declare yourself a prophet and its up to you to get your talk game good enough for people to accept it... kinda like how I became the President of Banlandia

"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion."
Hubbard is supposed to have said this some time in the 40's although there is controversy about if he really said it.

It seems like such an obvious joke religion, Xenu and Thetans and all that crazy shit - Hubbard must have been laughing at all of those nutcases that believe him. I'd accuse Hubbard of being a nutcase but he made so much money scamming these people, maybe he was a genius. I've read Battlefield Earth and it was a pretty good book, much better than the movie (I did read most of it while stoned, so take that for what it's worth). But having read that book, I can see that this scientology shit comes from Hubbard's imagination.

I agree with the posts and the theme of this thread for sure.

However, when I saw this South Park episode, I couldn't help but wonder that other religions, such as Christianity's belief structure is almost as rediculous.

Sure, I can't stand scientology, but most religions appear to be pretty silly to an outsider.

I agree most religions seem ridiculous to an outsider - but Scientology is taking it to a whole new level.

South Park parodies a lot of religions, Jesus is a recurring character with his own public access talk show.

If you watch the latest episode, he's also a character in "imaginationland." I don't know how many people caught that, but I thought it was pretty funny.

ROFL

I never intended nor still wish for this to be a religous topic, or I would of posted it in a different forum (or not at all).

Most religions have philoshophical meanings, if not all. Scientology is the result of some guys crazy imagination with the wish to scam millions of people to make money, and he pretty much admited it. I laugh.

If history will remember him for anything, it's a scammer, con artist and genius.

:iagree: All religions are based on faith. While much of scientology is really wacky, & they’ve got that smiling jack ass Tom Cruz, it's still faith based like any other religion.

I'm a christian myself, but I could easily see why someone who doesn't believe would find a lot of my belief odd or even crazy. It still amazes me though with a religion like scientology what people will have faith in. I'm never one to force my religion, but wow.

Are you a member of the Super Adventure Club too?

Is it any more retarded than the idea of God sending his son to die for our sins? Is it any more retarded than Buddha sitting beneath a tree for twenty years?
Yeah. It's way, way more retarded.
