I have replaced the rotors on my 97 Sub twice in the last 2 years. I have been buying the HD rotors from LAPS (Advanced, AZ, etc). Last year, I also replaced the calipers. Each time this was done, new pads also installed. The problem I have is last year, I replaced the rotors because they had warped. Well, they feel like the "new" ones are now warped. I read somewhere about problems with Chinese made rotors. Is anyone else having similar problems with this?

The old saying "you get what you pay for" may apply here. Another thing is that "new" rotors need to be turned and surfaced before installation, no matter what brand they are.

Im not familiar with the front ends on the Burbon, but ive had this problem with a 02 silverado.

I thought my problem was my rotors and then i noticed alot of give in my hub and i replaced it, and it was fixed. The problem with mine was i couldnt just press the bearing out and replace it i guess chevrolet needed the money and didnt make the bearing removable/replacement so i had to buy the whole hub assembly and it put a pretty nice dent in my wallet.

I would look into that before i turned to rotor its a real quick find.

V8, Been there! After a couple runarounds with warping I had some success by having the rotors upgraded to Power Slots. This was done at Les Schwab Tires. They also replaced calipers and installed the best semi metallic pad they carried. That was 18 months ago an all is well. Just a couple other possible considerations for you: There is a larger caliper that is basically stock it just has a larger piston (may go with this if I keep the vehicle) thats avail. at a few places, can't remember where. Also consider the cryo dipped rotors. Check these out at powerslot.com. As far as pads go a high quality semi-metallic is a safe choice. powerslot suggest Hawk at there site, Raybestos is a good name. I'm going to try the RayB Ceramic pad my next brake change, along with some stainless brake lines (trying to improve the brake pedal feel). "Bottom line" is the braking is underengineered on the burb an short of a Big Brake Kit...Big Bucks the system will be satisfactory at best. Good luck, Mike
