:confused:well, I might have asked this question before but I couldn't find my post. I own a 4 door 70 chevelle. I bought the car for like 200 bucks. But what I really want is a 2 door. does the 2 door and 4 door have the same frame? And would I have any luck converting it to a 2 door? Does anyone have any suggestions?

c-307,
Yeah, I think I remember your post too. From what I recall, the frames are longer on the 4-door. There's a lot of work in that sort of conversion - that will never be recovered in the final market value.. But I can understand why you want to do this. I did see last year some pictures of a guy in the Netherlands (Amsterdam I think) who did a 4-door '72 into a two door. The body work was extensive. It wasn't finished yet, and it wasn't looking too pretty - it looked too long. But I'd give him credit for taking on such a project in a country where gas is $9 a gallon and his car had a V8 engine.
If I were give some advice to you - I'd say leave your car a four door. The 1970 model Chevelle is the most popular Chevelle due to the single-year styling and quad round headlights in front, according to a poll last year on Chevelles.com. So what you have today is a sedan version of perhaps the hottest muscle car. From the front and back it looks just like the coupe. So maybe put a reasonable amount of money towards restoring it to as close to original condition as possible and many people will appreciate that. Maybe some Cragar SS's on it instead of the stock steel wheels though. It will keep it's value - and besides there aren't many 4-door 1970 models around anymore. So I'd say you don't have a problem after all (title of this thread) instead you have an opportunity instead........the chance to restore the sharpest looking four door classic car.
