97 528i abs problems

Hello all,

I have a 1997 bmw 528I. The brakes pulsate like the abs is working. It has about 225K miles. At about 190K miles I replaced all 4 hubs because one was noisy and I figured I'd just replace all 4. So then about 4-5 months ago the abs light came on and the abs would work when slowing down or almost stopped, not at higher speeds. Ok so then I replaced all 4 abs wheel sensors. Now the abs light is off and stays off, but at really slow speeds the abs kicks in. The airbag light is now on too. The oxygen sensors need to replaced and that code is making the check engine light stay on. I know how to change the oxygen sensors and will do so when I get more time and money, but for right now I'd really like to fix the abs problem. Hopefully somebody here knows about this as it is likely common. I'm fairly handy and willing to work on this car. Please help!!! Thanks.

I'd worry a hell of a lot more about that airbag light being on than the abs light myself.

Are you sure that the rotors are not warped? As that could give you a "fake" pulsating feel, it almost sounds like that since the light is off and it only happens at slow speeds. You ever do any hard braking?

Only other thing I could suggest that is an easy fix is find the control module for the HUD and the abs sensor and spray some WD-40 into it as you might have gotten some moisture and this is throwing bad codes.

No, I know it's not warped rotors, it is the abs going off at really slow speeds (like less than 10mph). I agree the airbag light is not good, but the abs is more annoying everyday. Let me know anything else you can.
