Iso-HEET for emissions question.

Say someone failed emissions...

They changed plugs/wires/filters/oil ect.

They have heard people use 3 bottles of iso-heet (after hearing other peopel having success with it) to pass emissions.

I heard they are supose to heat up the engine by driving around 20 miles, and need about 1/4th tank + heet to pass the test.... my question is when do *they* dump in the 3 bottles of iso-heet?

Before *they* go on my 20 mile trip before the test ? (so it never has to stop running) OR drive 20 miles... pull over right before test.... dump 3 bottles in then go test within a few mins?

Anyone else have tips to help *them* pass besides that - and not turning off the engine- keeping ac off?

This thread is for educational purposes only. :)

Thanks,
Dan

Welcome to the forum. I've never had to use it but I would think the instructions on the bottle would tell you when to add it.

its not made to pass emissions its made to clear water from the system , thus no instructions. Ha.

The whole thing is a trick many many people use but nobody has specifics it seems.

Prob doesnt matter either way,

But maybe someone knows about this:

My car failed emissioms with high co I think it was- (if thats the one usualyl caused by fuel not burning) .... just by a few points... all others passed....

went home and changed spark plugs+wires.......

went back- turned off car before emissions and did not heat up the engine before test( had no idea I had to)

Failed not only CO this time by less then last time, but HC DOUBLED THE ALLOWED LIMIT... it went from 12 out of 15 to like 30 out of 15!

Could that be because i turned off the car while waiting in the emission line? or because i had the ac on too? or because my car was overheating?

haha i would guess so...

Anyone have any idea what I would need to fix to get it pass emissions

do you have a 3.8 v6 perhaps? if its overheating.. you're more than likely dumping coolant into the cylinders and out the exhaust... fix your headgaskets, change your oxygen sensors, run some injector cleaner and change plugs again, and you should pass with flying colors.
