on the 03, when changing the brake pads, is it like all the others, can I just press the caliper piston in and replace the pads or do I need a scan tool or something to bleed them after? I know on some newer cars you have to loosen the bleeder bolt so that you are not pushing fluid back in when you compress the caliper.

It is best to open the bleeder screw before pushing in the caliper. Don't forget to close the screw after. Then just refill the master cylinder after you are done.

thanks for quick reply, would I have to bleed the brakes after and if so, do you need a scan tool to bleed them?

No you do not have to bleed the brakes. Only if you get air in and what you are doing will not. If you have anti lock brakes and get air in the controler you need to use a scan tool to get it out. Keep your master cylinder full.

I just replaced front brakes on my 02 rendezvous. I opened up the master cylinder lid to push the piston cylinder back in. Knock on wood....no problems with air in the system.
