Would like to introduce myself and our new BMW, a 1997 540i in beautiful Fjordgrau - metallic, with dove gray leather inside. It has a little over 111k miles, and idles nice and smooth with no apparent problems yet.
Was wondering if anyone here has had luck with getting all the haze off the plastic headlight covers, and if so, what did you use and where did you get it?
I also need to replace the underhood insulation and was wondering if anyone knows a shop or dealer that can give good pricing? I have been a member of the BMW CCA since 2000, and love the BMW marque.

Thanks for all your help and for making this a really nice site at first glance. DanF

i know meguars makes a good plastic cleaner/polish it will take the haze right off. never use amonia, windex or any other harsh cemicals or it will ruin the headlights.

Welcome to the fabulous world of owning a BMW, I assume you know by now that BMW stands for Bring My Wallet not Bavarian Motor Works!!

I used wet/dry sandpaper 2K grit, rubbing in a back & forth manner (not circular) than used finesse with my polisher then a coat of wax.

I recently replaced my hood mat and it wasn't too bad- somewhere around $200 from the dealer. For an OEM item that's cheap.....
