just recently bought a 95 gsr. bought vehicle about 200 miles away. checked
block to make sure b18c1 which it was. vehicle seemed very sluggish for
gsr. changed spark plugs, originals at 100k miles. pulled kick panel for
ecu and found bolts loose. checked # for ecu and found it has a p29 ecu!
i think this is for a sohc motor. i believe mine should have a p72. is there any
way vtec is even working with this ecu? i know i have to get another ecu
but i am undecided on a jdm ecu or getting a usdm ecu with skunk 2 programing. vehicle is stock except for exhaust and intake, do not plan on
any more mods. any ideas out there? is the p29 ecu hurting my motor?
blows black smoke under hard accell and redlines at 7300 rpm's.

The ECU you got is for d16a9 engines for '89 1.6 integras, they are non-vtec dohcs... So it isn't working the VTEC in your car, neither the Oxygen Sensor, that's why you see the black smoke and the lousy performance... Can you sell me your ECU on eBay, please? of course as soon as you got the correct replacement ECU in your car!!! That way you won't end spending too much on your new compatible or correct ECU... Can you tell me the rest of the numbers on your p29 ECU? Any info... please ask me.

modevil, i will get all the #'s off the ecu. sorry took soo long to get back, been on vacation and just got back today, i will try to get the rest of the
#'s tomorrow. ive decided on a jdm p72 but still have to find one. ive read up
on the chipped ecu's and im afraid of grenading my motor by revving it to 9200 rpms.

Good you've decided on a p72, it's better to have a healthy long living horse than a slightly quick but sick one... At least I see it that way. There are plenty of p72s on ebay, either USDM or JDM, original or chipped to choose from... as soon as you get yours, you can sell me the p29 to cover at least part of your expenses... Which state are you located?
