Tranny fluid sucker

I built a clean little fluid sucker out of a five gallon plastic bucket and an old shop vac. I can easily fix a 1/4 line to the inlet. Has any one ever tried sucking tranny fluid out the dip stick tube. Do you think it would work? Seems easier than disconnecting lines etc. Perhaps you could only get a couple of quarts each time, but eventually all your fluid would be changed.

Oh yeah, it's done all the time. The only problem is that you can only suck out 1/3-1/2 the fluid. The rest is in the torque converter. So suck it out, refill, drive for a week, then repeat this procedure two more times and you will have just about all the benefits of a fluid flush for a lot less money and bother.

Those RED $10 transfer pumps work great for these jobs. I see them at Walmart, KMart, and Harbor Freight. H-F has them on sale every other month for $4.99. I've been using mine for 2yrs now before dropping the pan. Helps keep the mess to a minimum.

I've used that exact method 4-5x. It works well. Not the fastest method going, but faster and less tiring than my $5 harbor freight tools, little red hand pump. Good idea to not use your 'good' shop vac. You really heat up the vac motor and you will get some ATF droplets in the vac sucn hose.

I've been drooling over this one for awhile too: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=46149 If that darn ~$140 didn't always have to get spent elsewhere! :banghead:
