Look to see what is loose. You may have to put a brace on it.

I have a 2005 Impala and had to take off the dash to pull out the radio (my 2 yr old shoved a quarter in the CD player and it ended-up on a circuit board shorting the thing out). There are four screws which hold your glove box in place. To access these, you need to take out panel piece directly below the dash (kick plate). It is clipped in, so you do not need to remove any screws. There are two clips in the front and one in the rear. To completly get the panel out, you will have to unthread the floor light by turning it 90 deg and popping out.
The four screws are obvious and at the bottom edge of the glovebox. You may also want to tighten the hook at the top where the latch connects.
For the ash tray, are you certain the plastic tray is all the way clipped in? this could be a rattle cause. I know with my impala, if I have anything hard in the ash tray it rattles a ton and irritates me.
