I have 96 Grand Am with an automatic transmission. It will not go into 1st or 2nd gear automatically. When Ihooked the scanner up to it it read a P1860 code which is the manufacturer transmission control. What is that and where is it? Is it the module on the top on the transmission next to the shift sensor and speed sensor? When looking down beside the engine I can see a sensor on top of the transmission but have no idea if thats it or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Am going crazy trying to fix this.Thanx:banghead:

Welcome to AF.
Something in the circuit driving the TCC (torque converter clutch) is malfunctioning, probley Inside the trans.
Could be the wiring, could be the TCC.
The device on top of the trans is the park neutral safty switch most likly.
