02 Suburban LT Power Steering Pump Replace

Hello all,

I have a 02 Suburban LT that needs to have the power steering pump replaced. I pulled the pump out and purchased a replacement. However, I noticed that on the back of the reservoir of my existing pump is a solenoid actuator (looked it up) with an electronic connector for a sensor. The new pump has a capped hole in the back where this solenoid would go. Am I supposed to pull this solenoid out of the current pump and put it onto the new one? If so, how do you pull it off one and press it on the other? My vehicle is useless right now until I fix this and feel a bit stumped on this one. Can anyone help.

thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing any suggestions/solutions.:banghead:

It is held in with a snap ring.

I wish I had gotten this far! I have all the bolts off, but cannot remove the pump from the car. The bracket and the steering column and the return nozzle are all conspiring against me. :frown:

Any hints?!?
Thank you.
Ron
