Brake Pressure switch failure

My understanding regarding Ford's recall on brake pressure switches iis that they are not replacing the switch, but installing a fuse in the constant hot wire. If this is the case, and they still won't recall the Windstars, I would like to fuse my van on my own. Does any one have any info on how Ford is wiring this fix?
Thanks

Never heard of windstars having a problem with the brake switches. But if you want to do it just test to see which is power side go to Autozone and buy an inline fuse holder and just wire it in.

go to a ford dealer and buy a jumper for the recall. just pluggs in to the switch and the harness pluggs into the other end.

The Ford fix includes *BOTH* a new, redesigned pressure switch, as well as the fuse assembly.
My switch began leaking recently: I could see the wet spot; cruise control stopped working; some loss of brake fluid.
I got the switch replacement kit at my local Ford dealer (IIRC, about $25) and replaced it myself. It works fine; no problems since then.

there is a kit with the switch but less that 4% of vehicles need it-ford only gives this one out if the switch is leaking. for the addl. cost the jumper will protect you from fire.

Just talked to our "local" ( 60 miles south) Ford dealer. He could not say if the wire harness of the warranty fix would fit my Windstar, but I intend to spend the $8.00 for it and splice it in myself.

I have installed em on windstars for customers at their expense (since the recall hasn't made it that far yet) it is a direct plug in.
