wiring up a condesor fan

my rodeo a/c doesnt blow cold unless im driving. mine didnt come with an a/c condesore fan. i was told if i installed a pusher fan it would fix the porblem. so i see the perfect size fan at local parts store. but how would i wire it up to come on when the a/c is on? any recomendations?

to answer your question, partly, the oem system with the condenser fan uses a *3*-way switch on the accumulator-dryer to monitor the refrigerant pressure to determine when the fan kicks in. the systems without the condenser fan use a *2*-way switch, which monitors the refrigerant pressure and shuts down the compressor when the refrigerant pressure is too *low*; the 3-way adds the too-high condition to turn on the fan.
you might be able to look at the schematics and determine how to wire a 3-way switch in; or there may be some innovative mickeymouse way to do it, try google.
but again, i'd look to making sure your system is working to spec first.

Mine doesnt work all that well when stopped either. I think I have air in my system (no clue what previous owners did) and will eventually evacuate the system then weigh in the proper charge. Mine was way over charged when I bought it.
As BC said, it might make it work for now but isnt really fixing the problem. 5 speed rodeos didnt come with condenser fans and the system was designed to work without them. Could be the a bunch of stuff built up in the radiator or condenser, or in between the 2 (alot of junk can collect in between them. If thats the case cleaning all that stuff out might help. Could be a weak fan clutch for the radiator not drawing enough air through. Could be a you have a small leak and the system is low on refrigerant.
Check the condition of the condenser and radiator (remove the radiator brackets and look between the 2 as well). Then check that the fan clutch is working right, if all that is ok then have a shop check the pressures on the system to make sure it is charged properly.

ive only had it six months, im just going through it and tunning it up and doing all the maintanance, it has charged, but i just noticed my fan shroud is not on there, so i need to locate a fan shroud. then ill have a shop just vacum it and charge it. i just hate taking my car to a shop, they always come up with a way to make you pay more then the car itself. im doing the timing belt thats when i noticed the shroud is not on. weird because it never runs hot, even in stop and go traffic it stays really cool. just the a/c dont work for crap.

it takes quite a bit for the coolant to run hot in these engines, but not so much for the AC to not be supercool, especially if it's the R134a system, which inherently runs warmer than the old r12.
