Removing the cowling on 2000 Windstar?

I can seem to figure out how to remove the wiper arms on my 2000 windstar. It's embarrassing to admit, since it looks to be a simple task, but nevertheless...where are the 15mm nuts to remove?

I want to begin replacing the isolator bolts on my intake plenum and heard it is much easier after removing the cowling. First step is to remove the wiper arms.

You should be able to pop up a cover on the ends of the wiper arms to expose the nuts. On the chance that I am nuts, some may also have a retainer that you must slide out from the under side such that you can pop the wiper arm off of the drive spline i.e. no nut.

also once you remove the Nuts you may need a little bearing puller to help back out the wipers off the splines. Advanced Auto and other parts places have the cheap small ones for around 2 to 3 bucks. Well worth it than messing up splines. that could cost big bucks if you strip them.Hope this helps.

The pullers are a good idea. Not having them, you might try raising the wiper arms fully "up" ... and then gently rocking the arms sideways to loosen the splined connection. Be carefull not to allow the wipers to "snap back" once removed ... that's all it takes to break that unknownium allow metal.

Just completed everything last night and the check engine light disappeared for now. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

You know, I ended up with an "extra" that I must have missed when reinstalling the wipers and assembly to the cowling. It looks like a brass colored spacer in the shape of a small hollow top hat. Does anyone know if this is important for me to take the cowling apart again? Im not sure where it was removed from, other than on the wiper assembly somewhere.

Sounds like the nut that holds the wiper arm on ... I'd check ?
