Hey people s10 -throttle sticks..

I have a 96 s10 4cyl 2.2L 5speed..
What happens, is esp on rainy/humid days, when the engine is cold...
I'll accelerate lightly, and everything will be fine. If I have to get on it harder (highway entrance, etc..) when I put my foot on the clutch and let off the gas to shift, the pedal will pull away from my foot and the engine will uncontrollably rev. It will do this until I turn off the ignition and then restart it. (I've gotten pretty quick at it. lol)
I've seen numerous posts about cleaning the throttle body, but does this apply to my truck? Any thing you can think of would be appreciated, it's VERY scary when it happens.. totally random and only on hard acceleration when the engine revs get up into what I guess is like 5000-5500 rpm, and only after I pull my foot off and hit that clutch, thats when it goes nuts. I was thinking a throttle spring or something? I can actually feel the pedal pull away from my foot if I don't move it when I clutch.
So if theres anything I can try short of replacing the throttle cable (I'd rather not, I don't have clue how :-)
Thanks again for your always great assistance!
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention.. if I dump the clutch the moment I know it's gonna rev away, it jerks a little then settles right down. It just seems to only happen that moment after hard acceleration when the drive train is unloaded to shift out of first..

Cleaning the TBI is for a stickie pedal.
If your engine is speeding up way fast.
I would pull fuse or unplug the cruise control if you have cruise.

No cruise, stock all the way man :-)
Yeah, thats kinda what it feels like, the pedal sticks then as the engine revs up, the pedal pulls down.

Okay, I cleaned out the butterfly and intake throat.. man that thing was nasty..
I have yet to run it from cold on a humid day, we'll see how that goes though.
Thanks for the advice.. I have many more questions I'll bug ya all with later :-)

Okay, I ran it. It's not nearly as "sticky" as it was before, but it still certainly sticks and revs the engine. Lets go sooner though. I don't have to turn off the truck anymore. It just revs to about 3500 or so for a second then drops back to idle. Any more ideas? (Still hoping I don't have to replace this throttle cable..:-) )

I would reclean and check the throttle body and return spring real very close.

Thanks for the replies guys.. MT, what exactly would I be looking for? I used 2 cans of carb cleaner on it already... seriously, clean it again??

Unhook gas linkage cable and see if TBI has a good spring back.
See if it sticks when it is closed.
It should have good srong sprin and no stick when snap back closed.
And clean it good.
Use a old plastic tooth brush to clean it teeth.
Make sure all black and carbon are off and out of it.
Also on that one remove TBI and replace TBI base gasket.
