how do i take the radio out of a 1998 Chevy cavalier sedan Plese include pics plz later

As far as i know you have to take the whole dashboard apart to get the radio out. I just paid to have mine done rather than try to take it all apart.

yeah the hole things gotta come out
first pop the plates that cover the sides of the dash screwdriver works good
next undo the screws holding the top dash
then do the 3 above the glove compartment
then theres 2 in a hole on the glove compartmant that hold the airbag plate
then the top should come off
after that theres a couple on the surrond plate then it will pull off

Radio Replacement Chevrolet
Removal Procedure
Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

Caution
Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.


Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the IP cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.



Remove the screws (1).
Pull the radio (2) out from the instrument panel (3).
Disconnect the electrical connections.
Disconnect the antenna lead connections.
Remove the radio (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure




Connect the electrical connections to the radio (2).
Connect the antenna lead connections to the radio.
Install the radio (2) to the instrument panel (3).
Install the screws (1) to the instrument panel.
Install the IP cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Connect the negative battery cable.
Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

thats the easy part try getting the dash off to get that far the entire dash councel everything has to come off

yea no doubt its a pain in the ass it toom me and my friends an hour to figure out how to take the thing out putting it in was easy tho

Hi, this is my fist post.

I had the radio taking out, and got a panasonic tape and 6 cd shuttle installed, the guy that did it had to remove the whole top of the dash board, and removed a few panels near the glub compartment.
