Oil Pump

I need to do the oil pan on my 94 1500 with the 5.7L. While I am there I thought I would do the oil pump too. I noticed there is a OE pump, a high volume pump and a high pressure/high volume pump. Any reason why I should use anything but standard? I have 149K on the motor now and I'm not sure if there would be any benifit on a stock motor to using any of the other pumps.

The hp pumps will probably cost you some power and mileage to turn them, compared to the stock one.

If you've got 30 pounds or more, well warmed-up at highway speeds, you don't need more pressure. Excess pressure is only good for causing oil leaks!

Go OE unless your going to run it 1/4 mile on sunday.
