I have a hold on a 2003 530i pending my mechanic's inspection. My question is: Did BMW offer a stripped down version for the US leased market? I ask because this Alpine White car with Sand interior has no color bumper inserts and no wood dash/door trim. Perhaps these were just part of the Premium package. This is fine with me as long as it is mechanically identical in terms of Tiptronic, Stability Control, etc. If there is a stripped version, how much should be deducted from edmunds.com values? Thanks in advance for your answers.

The 2003 530i does not have color bumpers, thank god. I just purchased on last week. Blackw/ creme interior, wood trim. I have never seen a 530i without wood trim. But if that doesn't bother you, just make sure everything else is intact mechanically.

The 01 to 03 all had color bumpers instead of the black inserts from 97-00. The prem pkg is optional in the states, so there are some out there on the car without prem pkg I've seen with the color coded aluminum (or is it plastic that looks like metal?) in place of the wood. Also, some ppl ordered their prem & sport pkg cars with the aluminum trim on their cars instead of wood. The stripper version comes with the steel 16" wheels instead of the BBS style wheels which would be on the prem pkg or the larger sport wheels on the sport pkg. I believe on kbb or other valuation sites you can de-check the prem pkg box to get the value of the stripped down version. (I'm not an expert but I've had a 97, 01, 02, 03 and now have an 05 530i.)
