I have a 1998 Tahoe. I would like to swap the Delco AM/FM tape player and broken CD slave (just below the radio) for a Delco AM/FM CD player that eBay seller say fits the Tahoe. Can I just plug in the same pig tail and will the radio with build in CD player work? I would just remove the slave CD and buy a plug of eBay to fill the hole. Any help or ideas would be great. Dave

It all depends on the radio but most Chevy radios have the same wiring, I would buy an aftermarket stereo if you are going to go through all the work to replace it you might as well get better sound quality. As far as the plug for the old CD player Chevy sells a compartment that slips in there for $20, might as well make use of the space.

If your looking at an aftermarket stereo, a good place to start is Crutchfield,(www.crutchfield.com). They have all the dimensions and specifications to let you know what stereos and speakers work with your vehicle. Their customer service department is great also. I've done business with them for about 20 years and have never had a problem.
