Well, at least the leak is slow and not causing damage as long as the oil is changed (wonder what previous owners did..)
This was my first UOA ever and kudo's to Blackstone Labs for speedy, courteous and comprehensive service.
So I'm going to order the lower intake gaskets. I've read a few posts on it so I have a good general idea of what's going on. I've done 60k maintenance on SHO's before..and they're set up strikingly similar to the dual-length intake on these 3.8s. Anything else I should replace while I'm in there? Thermostat or temperature senders?
Any other tips appreciated.
TIA

Spark plugs and wires. With the lower intake manifolds out, it's almost effortless to change out the plugs and wires. But normally, this is a rather big job.

Just be aware that the front engine cover gasket is also an opportunity to get coolant into the crankcase.
I would first do the intake gaskets, change oil, drive a bit and then retest.

Just finished my lower intake manifold gaskets. I also replaced the wires, plugs thermostat and gasket, radiator hoses, bypass hose and tube, pcv valve, clips for the imrc,s, radiator cap, Egr gasket and coolant temperature sensor. When I removed the manifold I left the Egr valve in place. I also removed the Imrcs after the manifold was removed loosened them to get at the manifold bolts. I removed the gasket material with Permatex gasket remover and cleaned the manifold with apressure washer and some foaming degreaser from Walmart $1.20 a can. Remove the coolant tube that goes from one side of the manifold to the other and you can flush everthing real well. If I had to do it again I would have attached the Imrc,s before I installed the manifold with only 1 bolt on each. If you do remove them get the clips. Install the plastic clip first and then insert the rod. I had a little problem with the intake manifold bolts aligning. I wondered if they had given me a set of 4mm instead. Check for correct size before you order. If the heads had been machined you'll need the thicker set. Wire brush your manifold bolts and keep them in the same order. I took a piece of card board with the same layout as the manifold and put them in there respective holes. Don't forget thread sealant. (sensor safe.) See Wiswins pictures for Ford reccomended sealant. For sure remove the cowl it makes it easier to work and get at wires and plugs. Aslo look at your grommet in your valve cover. See how the pcv valve fits. Check all your vacume lines when the manifold is removed. Make sure you do a oil and filter change a well as coolant if its bad. I used all Ford parts from Team Ford out of Las Vegas. www.teamfordparts.com (http://www.teamfordparts.com). Great prices and they try to overnight or second day for the same price. If you have any questions regarding part numbers call they are very helpfull. After looking over all my lower intake manifod bolts I would have replaced them they were carroding. None broke and seem to be fine.
