Hazard switch always on

I have a 1997 528 and the light for the hazard switch on the console stays on all the time. When it sits for a few days, the battery is low and I think it might be from that light staying on all of the time. Any suggestions?

Don't know if its similar to the 89 525, but mine had "coffee spill" syndrome... the hazard lights would come on by themselves for no apparent reason. Turns out it had liquid inside. I popped it open and cleaned out the liquid. That stopped the lights from coming on by themselves..., however, I broke it when I did that and it would no longer latch ON. I eventually replaced the switch. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply. This car was my son's car, and he said the light has been on since he bought it. Lucky for me, the hazards work when the switch is pushed and don't come on by themselves. It makes sense that something might have spilled on the console somewhere along the line. Thanks, again.

Switch grounding out thus keeping the light on all the time.
It probably is the coffee spill syndrome like ShadeTreeBill was saying.
Damn coffee!!!
I wonder if you could get some WD-40 in there. (WD-40 was orginally designed to displace water from U.S. Minute men missiles hence the W and D in the name, for Water and Displacement.)
Wonder if it could be used on coffee spills?
I guess you could e-mail them, it could stain your dash material don't forget! So test it first!
