I am pulling the heads to have a valve job done. Following the manual I remove the rockers and the push rods, the removed the head bolts. My manual says there are 16 bolts on a '99 is that correct? The heads don't budge!?! Did I miss some bolts? Are there dowel pins?
I am so confused!!:banghead:

Never mind; I found it! There are actually 17 bolts!
While I typed my original post I downed 12oz of brain lubricant. When I went back out to the truck I noticed that at the back end of each head was a small pool of oil. I stuck my finger down in the oil and found a bolt head!!
Next question: while the heads are at the machine shop I have the block covered with towels to keep dust/dirt out. It is going to be warm and stormy here this week and I'm concerned about moisture. Should I spray/pour anything on the pistons?

There are 16 headbolts and do a doublecheck if you have them out.The heads might be stuck in the dowel pins, stick a handle of 1/2" drive breaker bar in the port of the in the inake manifold side and pull.
