Ford hasn't changed the location too much, so you may want to check the locations called out in the various threads for the Sport Trac, behind the passenger side airbag or in the rear seat area in the jack compartment. It probably won't be right out in the open, chances are pretty good you'll need to have a bright flashlight and look behind the panel.
I'd certainly suggest starting with the jack compartment as that is much easier to get to than getting behind the passenger side airbag.
Also, check your owner's manual. It seems that often times people will write their code down in the owner's manual (table of contents, applicable section, Index, or Notes section).

Hey There,
I can answer this one for you. In the back of your Explorer open the LEFTHAND plastic door where your tools are. Take a good brite flashlite and look in there. You will see a metal box about two inches think and six inches square. Write down the FIVE big numbers on the sticker. Now you have the FACTORY code. Look in your book and add a second code for yourself. Thats all .

Don't think that works for the Sport Trac, which is the subject of this post.

Rod,
I own a 1996 2Dr Sport, That is where the box and code number are. Inside the driver side wall over the rear wheel well.

Yep, but the Sport Trac is the "pickup" style with the bed in the back over the rear wheel wells. I believe most people with Sport Trac find the RAP module in the dash above/behind the passenger side air bag.

Confirmed for my 2004 Ford Sport Trac. The code is on the computer module which is just BARELY visible by removing the defrost cover/grill under the windshield. It is only secured by snap on clips, so just pry it up slowly. I looked through the windshield on the passenger side, just above the airbag.
The module is a pale yellowish and up under the dash a few inches is a label/tag. On the right side of the label there is a 5 digit number (I heard all were odd numbers, which mine were). You will likely need a flashlight. Good luck. Don't pay those thieves at the dealership 100$ for 5 minutes of work!
