The Torrent must be an excellent vehicle, since there are NOT any posts here, and it seems most posts anywhere are gripes and complaints...

My wife is looking at buying one... possibly any day now. (2007 model with AWD). She test drove it, and liked it better than the Honda CR-V (which are all made in Japan--not in the USA... not a good thing!).

I don't like buying a vehicle the first year its out (like my wife did with her 2002 Buick Rendezvous--bad car!), or we might look at the new Ford Edge (2007 is first year, so I must pass on it!).

The Torrent is looking good at this point... comments ?

It is a car!

I just picked up a 2007 torrent a week ago. 3k incentive to clear out the 07 models- couldnt pass that deal up.
only extra option I needed was the cruise control- not a problem finding that.( cant believe that's not a standard option - will be for 2008)

it comes standard with excellent safety features such as

Stability Control
Traction control
ABS
four wheel disc
tire pressure monitor

and Drive Info features
average MPG reading
outside temp.

Only complaint so far is the HVAC controls.
its seems like the HVAC has a mind of its own.

wont let me switch from fresh air to circulated air unless I first turn on the fan- I just want to close the fresh air.
If I turn on the fan and turn it off again it then lets me switch as I need to.

another mystery with the HVAC - the compressor automaticaly engages when I turn the fan on while the dial is in circulated air - I did not push the ac on (orange light is not on) when I switch to fresh air the compressor disengages.
it seems like it wants to do what it wants to do and not what I want it to do.
the wonderful digital age.

after driving for a little while it starts to behave normal for the rest of the trip - doesnt misbehave again until your next trip.

before i take my case to the dealer, I am going to monitor this mystery closely for a while. I am guessing a software issue at this poiint.

the electric steering feels a little different than the traditional hydralic. it requires a noticable muscle torque to keep the car going straight - while cruising on highway.(feels like you are turning an electric motor at the other end of the steering shaft.

other than that - it is a wonderful car with only 400 miles.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

My wife decided she liked the GMC Acadia better than the Torrent... more money of course, but its her vehicle and she's really happy with it... have about 5000+ miles on it now.

My only complaint is there isn't very much storage space. GMC seems to have a big fetish with drink holders. And there's two little spaces below the
heating controls that are barely big enough for a single pack of tic-tacs.

WTF ?

The storage compartments in the driver and passenger doors are basically there to hold more drinks... Pitiful !

My wife loved the storage areas in her Rendezvous (I'm glad to be rid of that car!), where she could put her purse, etc.

So that's my biggest complaint right now... I give GM a D- when it comes to on-board storage areas.

Let's hope the Acadia fairs much much better than the Rendezvous, or it will be the last GM product we buy.
