Sorry folks, I'm having a crappy day, and not very happy with my fellow co-workers. My first post, and I have to gripe! I'll come around in a day or two.
I do cars for a living, meaning, I repair them. right now, I'm a little tired of broke people, with NO money, wanting their car fixed.

That sucks. I've always wondered what do shops do exactly in those situations when the customer can't pay? Just add to the bill for storage or something?

We do a mechanic's lein, which means they don't get the car back until its paid for, and after a few days (or more or less, depending on the customer's attitude) start charging storage. After 30ish days and they have not paid, approach them offer to take the title for the car in lieu of payment. If they refuse, off to court we go...

Well now its the SMs fault. But I think in the situation where someone wants it fixed for "free" basically you just have to tell them what HAS to be done in order to fix the problem. Then if they complain tell them that you wont do it because it jeopardizes their own safety. If they want to gamble with their own life, put it in someone elses hands.
