Horn and cruise tied to multifunction switch?

Hey folks,
Didn't get any responses to my earlier post. Can anyone tell me if the horn and cruise are tied to the multifunction switch? I've got everything working on it (lights, wipers, turn signals) with the exception of the hazards, horn and cruise. Thanks!

It appears, based on your previous post, that you have a 1998 Taurus.

According to the factory wiring diagram, the horn and cruise go through clockspring assemblies in the steering column, but not the multifunction switch. The horn and cruise are tied in with each other so that the cruise will deactivate if you honk the horn while the cruise is engaged. Maybe you left a connector disconnected for the clockspring?

Thanks for the reply. I was digging around under the dash looking for the flasher relay, is it possible that I could have bumped the wires from there? I didn't have the steering column apart, I assume you can only access the clockspring internally? If the clockspring is faulty will it register on an OBDII? Is this a user replaceable part? I'm a bit concerned since it controls the airbag as well.

About the only way you'd be able to tell a clockspring has an issue is if it is one that passes the airbag power through it. The Supplemental Restraint Sytem (SRS) will set codes for open, shorted, or high resistance clocksprings (but the code is just for the entire circuit). When this happens though, the SRS system will flash the airbag light when the car is started. Or, if you have a professional scan tool that can access the SRS system, there will be more defined codes pointing to the clockspring circuit.

Yep, the clocksprings are part of the steering colum and would require pulling the steering wheel to replace.
