Small Foil Fell Into Gas Tank

I bought some of that fuel injector and carborator cleaner today to add to my gas tank. When I broke the seal part of the foil went down to the bottom of the bottle. I poured part of the liquid into my tank in the hopes that I might be able to remove it from the bottle and pour the rest of the cleaner in my tank. Unfortunately, it went into my gas tank instead. Will this cause any issues or do these paper foils somehow disolve? I'd hate to have problems with my car over a little paper seal that somehow got in my gas tank by accident.

There should be no problems. The fuel pump pickup strainer/sock is a fine enough mesh that nothing large enough to do any real damage to the pump will get through. The pickup filter element is large/long enough so that one piece of foil cannot prevent it from drawing fuel. There is little chance of it getting into the fuel level sensor, so it will probably just be there until the car is recycled or you change the fuel pump for some other failure - Whichever comes first.

Thanks. It's good to know it won't interfere with my car's operation.

Who said it wasn't going to interfere with the car's operation? That extra 1/50 of a gram of metal is probably going to settle in a place which will skew the L/R weight distribution, affecting the cornering and brake biasing, ruining fuel mileage, and preventing you from getting that last 0.0001 ounce of fuel in teh tank for maximum range.

Yup, it's ruined. ;)
