Seems a friend of mines starter went out on her Trooper. Looking to replace it and have never replaced a starter. Can someone give me a clue where I can locate it and what tools and work will be envolved? Thanks!

the hardest part is you have to remove at least part of the exhaust pipe to work the starter out
see this thread about 4 threads down
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=222510
it's on the drivers side where the engine and trans mate
the bolts, unlike other vehicles, face *down* so that parts easy
take the wheel off and the skirt and it's easier
any other questions after you read...?

Thanks for the info. I read another thread yesterday and it said that you do not have to remove the exhaust if it is not a 4x4. I did not mention that I will be working on a 4x2, does this change the work envolved?

if you have a 4x2 I believe it is possible to wiggle it out.
