I have had my stratus for about 2 years now and the only problem I have had was the check engine light wouldn't go off. Now all of a sudden I have a really big problem. As long as it is cold It will stay running, once it warms up I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running, once i take my foot off the gas and the car slows down, it dies. I have replaced relays that were bad, I have had the spark plug wires that can be seen replaced, they couldn't get to the others, (btw anyone know where those are and how to get to them?) It has a basically new battery, it isn't even 6 months old, although I did have to get a jump because it went dead while the fan relay was bad. It had gas, I can't get anyone to look at it, does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?:banghead:

I dunno my cavalier did something like this I never figured it out. I did learn that it is best to not ignore the check engine light mine was on in my 97 stratus and I let it because it was an oxygen sensor, I bought one of those code readers at walmart. Though even thats bad because your car runs leaner.

Have you had anybody, like AutoZone or NAPA, try to read the codes? It almost sounds like you might be having a problem with the Idle Speed Control Motor, or the Throttle Position Sensor. Both of these sensors are located on the throttle body, and if either are malfunctioning, the computer doesn't know where the throttle it positioned and can't control the idle speed.
If you have had the codes read, what codes were produced?
