2000 Contour SVT specs

just wondering if anyone had accurate stock performance specs on the 2000 SVT...i've found a lot of varying ones on the web.
just looking for:
0-60
1/4 mile
hp
tq
weight
i bought it as a daily driver...my "toy" is a 3000GT VR4, so eventhough the Contour SVT has decent accel., it's a world of difference compared to a 400hp. modded, awd, turbo car. it makes a great DD though. pretty dependable...performance wise the only thing i'd have to complain about is traction. it's way to easy to get the wheels to spin. the engine's strong enough to hold a lot of power, if only you could put it to the ground better. too bad they never sold the mondeo here. :shakehead

Stock, from the factory the brochure said for 99 but 2000 is the exact same
0-60 7.9
1/4m 15.8....and top speed 143mph...Now if you ask most contour svt owners including myself and they will all say these are very conservative figures.
my first stock run, i posted , and im 17 and i cant drive worth crap.
0-60....7.70
1/4m...15.78 @ 89.5mph
Top speed "145mph"
but they can run as low as 0-60 6.9 car & driver 99
and low 15's in the 1/4m. hope thid does the trick .....if you want mods visit trubendz.com, for exhaust and y-pipes...:)

thanks man!...that's exactly the information i was looking for. i actually have a couple minor minor mods: K&N, gutted cats, and y-pipe. i probably won't do any more mods to it, seeing that i already have a 12 sec. car.
thanks again.
thanks again.

no problem, i wish i had a vr-4! You made a good choice for a daily driver reliable performance, good handling/brakes, and sleeper looks.
Oh i forgot 1 thing.....the 1999-2000 contour svt nakes
200hp@ 6625 rpm
169 lb-ft @ 5625.

Considering the 170 hp V6 Contour does 0-60 in 7.7 secs, intuition would lead me to think that 7.9 seconds is wrong. :iceslolan Btw, 98-99 were quoted at 7.2 seconds. 2000 was then quoted at 6.9 seconds. 1/4 mile times: 15.2-15.4. If you want to see what people have ran with their cars, check out the dyno and drag section branch on the contour.org forums. We have a thread stickied at the top just for this reason. These were times quoted by car and driver iirc.
Btw, this is also partially covered in the FAQs on contour.org as well. Times for the base model 170 hp duratec are covered. We have everything over there. ;)

yet another one on contour.org
http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=8295
thanks a lot. i was just curious as to what cars i should be able to beat. I think i have something going on with the SVT though. sometimes it stays up in the RPM's even after i let off the gas. any ideas? i'm thinking maybe water pump or thermostat?
Plus it doesn't feel like i'm getting consistantancy in the mid-range rpm's. It doesn't feel like the clutch is slipping though...but i could be wrong.
The sub-compacts are getting faster and faster out of the factory these days...but thats why i have my 400+ hp VR4. :)
so two questions for you "beyondloadedSE"...what kind of 1/4 times are you running with your turbo SE?
and, is that you in the picture in your signature?

The throttle hang is discussed in the FAQs on contour.org.
http://www.contour.org/FAQ/FAQ.php?s=probs&displayid=3
My car has ran a best of 14.1. Yup, its pretty pathetic but I didnt get complete traction until 3rd gear. I pulled 355 whp, 350 wtq on the dyno the same day I ran that. I honestly could run faster times if I backed down the boost, since the more boost you put in this platform, the more traction issues it causes. The best pass by anyone on contour.org with a turbo is a 13.2. Pretty sad when a guy with a naturally aspirated 3.0L on the forums runs a 13.4 LOL.
And the girl in the picture is the girl I've been dating for almost the last 3 years now. She really doesnt have any interest in cars, but she does have an interest in doing some modeling with Hot Import Nights, etc.

yeah i heard and have experienced that about the contour. horrible traction! i think got better in my old mustang GT! haha One of my buddies used to have a SVT with a 100 shot of nitrous on it and he said the best he ever ran was a 14.6 or something like that and that he could never get traction.
13.2 is pretty sad w/ turbo power on this very stable engine. i can run that practically stock in my VR4. of course i do have two turbos on it...but the AWD is huge, especially when you're trying to move 3700 lbs down the track.
so what's the reason for this crappy traction?
too bad they never brought the modeno over to the states. V8 AWD would have been great!
your g/f is gorgeous...kudos man. proud of you! def. keep her around as long as her heart is as beautiful as her face and body.
well, i think i'm going to end up selling the SVT as i've decided to get a newer BMW or Audi for a daily driver. might even go with a VW Jetta 1.8T. I got walked on by one of them the other night. wtf?!....oh well, i can rest assured knowing that i'll prob. see him around again sometime when i'm riding around in the VR4.
thanks for all the info. man. one question on the rpm hang....where do i get that 1/2" plug for the 3/4" tube?

at probably any plumbing hardware store.
I think the first thing that makes this car have horrible traction is the weight over the front tires. Its an aluminum block and the car only weighs about 2900 lbs. Secondly, the sidewall height isnt as big as some cars like a grand prix, maxima, etc which will help give it better traction. A lot really depends on the driver. My friend runs a 14.4 in his 3.0L svt. Of course, he pulls 2.1 60' times as well. Ive seen a 2.5L SVT with just normal bolt ons pull a 14.5 with slicks. And then again, ive seen people run 13.2 with a 75 shot on a 3.0L motor.
I say you should buy a lexus SC300. You can pick them up for $6-7. Ultimate sleeper and they come with the 2JZ motor. Not to mention, youll probably get the luxury that the BMW or Audi has to offer. Of course, I'm a little biased since my friend owns the worlds fastest Lexus SC300. :sunglasse

haha...it's funny you say that about an SC300. that was my daily driver last year....i loved that car, but it just wasn't practical as a DD and in the winter w/ the RWD. other than that it was one of the best cars i ever had. it had 130k miles on it, i drove it for 8 months and never had a problem with it. the only maintenance i had to do was change the oil.
yeah the motor in those things are great...though they're kind of in between as far as quickness goes. i think they run a 16 sec 1/4 mile or something stock. right?
man that video is crazy...he ran a 9.38 and it looked like he didn't have traction hardly at all during almost the whole run. if he could get better traction he should be even faster. good things!

He'll be in the 8s for sure. On that 9.38 pass he only trapped at 147 since he was letting in and out of the gas down the track since he was all over the place. His best trap of that day was 155 mph. With a good track, it will run 8s.

Currently I live in Indianapolis. I was born and raised in Louisville, Ky for most of my life which is how I know Hal. We've been friends since kids. Yeah, a couple guys on contour.org have sold their SVT's for EVO's and STI's.

Yeah, a couple guys on contour.org have sold their SVT's for EVO's and STI's.
well it's definitely a good upgrade....of course so is the 3000GT VR4. hehe
not sure if i'll sell the VR4 if i get the STi or not...kind of depends on a couple things. obviously i'd like to have both, but its not always in the cards. i'd have to say the 3000GT is just a better looking car and a little bit more unique.
however, the sti is a lot easier to make really fast. i'm sure you know all about turbo applications upping boost and what not, but for those who don't...most people on the sti boards that are showing low 11 sec times only have an upgraded turbo, fuel management, bigger injectors, better fuel pump, full-exhaust, and either a boost controller or programmer (COBB). now thats only about $3000 or less of mods for and 11 sec car! another great thing about the Sti is that their engines and especially the transmission are pretty much bulletproof from the factory.
for a vr4 or stealth TT, you're looking at similar mods; turbo upgrades, intake, exhaust, fuel compensation (injectors, controller, pump), and headers...but because you gotta replace two turbos instead of one, it drives up the cost a little. so you're looking at about $4000-5000, instead of $3000. Plus because the VR4's are so dang heavy you'll probably only be running low 12's...which is still fast, but that's why i say the Sti is easier to make fast.
And i'm not positive on this, but i think that the STi is also easier/cheaper to make faster than the EVO...i'm researching this and will get back w/ the results. this should prob. go on a different thread and different part of the forums...but oh well, me and beyondloadedSE are pretty much the only ones commenting on it.
i will say though that depending on your funds the VR4 can be less expensive, just because compared to the $25k-30k pricetag on the STi/EVO you can pick one up for around $13k-16k...which leaves more money for mods.
okay enough on that subject.
