I bought a 2000 sunfire with a bad 2.2 engine. I plan to replace the engine but know I need to disable the anti theft feature on the radio before disconnecting the battery. There is no owner's manual so I don't know how to figure out where to find the ID number for the radio and if the procedure differs from other gm radios. Does anyone know where to find this? Also is there any other anti theft features or anything else I need to disable before starting in? All help is very much appreciated!

I found the answer to my problem! I thought I'd post an answer in case someone would like to have the answer. I got hold of an owner's manual and it said nothing about the power going out but did note the radio learns a part of the car's VIN number and if the radio is taken out and put in a different vehicle then it will "LOC" up. Talked with the local GM dealership and they concurred. So I disconnected the power and swapped my engine out and when it was time to fire it up. The radio worked with no problems!
