Crap day at work

I'm a local truck driver for a glass company, yesterday had to be one of the worst days i've had yet.
First I am in Ossining NY traveling down 9A and I have a really bad cold, 103 fever and shit so I had to blow my nose pretty bad. There is road construction going on so I see a good spot where I can pull off the road and not be in anyones way. As I pull over I unclip my seatbelt, throw the truck into neutral, set the brakes and hop out.
This cop by the construction site walks over and says to me hey you have your seatbelt on? I said yes sir I just unclipped it when I stopped. He told me that he didn't see me wearing it and I was in motion. I said I had it on sir I just took it off right now as I pulled over. He says well its a good habit to wear your seatbelt the entire time before you come to a complete stop, step inside your truck please.
So I get in, he makes me start it back up, checks my lights, hazards, reverse lights etc. Than he asks for my license/reg/ins card and goes to his cruiser. He comes back and says oh let me see your fire estinguisher, he checks to make sure its charged. Than he asks for my road flares (triangles) and I show him the box, at this point hes just busting balls.
He comes back a few minutes later and hands me a yellow slip he says do you have any questions. I said yes sir why are you giving me a ticket I was wearing my seatbelt. He tells me if I have a problem I can go to court. Heres the issue, I live in CT and the court date on the slip is for 7:00AM in Ossining NY. I called my boss up he said its a BS ticket but its going to cost me more to lose a days work for court than to just pay the fine. I have to mail it in before I can even find out how much the fine is.
Later that day Im traveling to another stop in CT and theres a low hanging tree limb, oak tree, pretty large, I couldn't get in the other lane so I figure it won't do much damage. I whacked the thing and it put a nice dent in the top of my truck, basically made me come to a complete stop and ripped the tarp covering the top of my truck. So now I had to report that as an accident. A fucking tree limb.
Cliff notes:
Got a BS seatbelt ticket in NY.
If I fight it I have to go to court in NY I live in CT.
Whacked a tree limb and fucked the top of my truck up.
Great day.

I felt like a dumbass for hitting a tree limb so I took a peek on google to see if anyone had actually damaged their truck doing the same.
Check this guy out, click the photo at the bottom of the article. They are charging his insurance company 10k-15k to replace the tree because he tore the limb off.

 At least i'm not alone.

I mailed the ticket slip in, they won't tell me what the cost of the ticket is until I get it mailed back to me. I really don't want to go all the way there for court so i'll probably just have to pay it. Cost me more in gas and time lost at work to fight them and than lose.

Sounds like that cop was a dickhead. I guess that is normal. Yeah, probably better just to pay the stupid ticket. If you have the officer's name or number who issued it you should write on the money order for him to specifically stick it up his ass and tell him Happy VD!

Yeah figures i'd get a ticket the same day I get my state tax return, in one pocket....out the other..thats life though eh. :banghead:
I got called into the office today too and they told me I did 3,000 worth of damage to the truck hitting that tree limb. I said well sorry but it was an accident, its not like I purposely rammed the tree. Hopefully nothing else comes of it.

If I can find my dad's digi, I'll post a pic later he took a few days ago. (He's a sales person for freightliner trucks btw)
A tractor with trailer attempted to enter a small 2 lane tunnel which is closed to all trucks. The trailer smashed the top of the tunnel and folded the top of the trailer like an accordion.
Oh, and on the side of the trailer, in giant letters:
CENTRAL ALABAMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM
He had a freaking driving instructor in the passenger seat when this happened, classic.

Wow, yea definitely post that haha. I've seen a ton of guys go flying through a tunnel or under a bridge that I know they won't make and you just hear the rolling thunder as the roof gets peeled back.
Gotta watch those bridges too, some will say 12'9 but when they repave they can add 4-5 inches to the ground, snow/ice is a problem too. I saw a schneider truck get jammed under a bridge and he would've cleared it but the posted height wasn't right. Hoping I never hit one of those, hell of a report to fill out. :evillol:
