98 buick regal GS intermittent turn signal problem

the left front turn signal on my 98 regal gs does not work. I have checked the bulb and the fuses and all seem fine. when i turn the signal on the back bulb works fine (flashes fast as if front one is out) but, the front bulb will not come on. tried swapping with right front bulb which works fine but no success. Also, the dashboard indicator light for the right light works fine but, when i turn on the left i get nothing (just the faster click noise that indicates a bulb is out.)
Side note, I also have an intermittent stereo problem. sometimes all speakers work and then randomly only the front left speaker will work. everything else with the stereo will work fine (cd/tape/steering wheel controls) just the speakers will cut out. this seems to only happen when i start the car. Maybe both problems are related?
Thanks for any help.:licka:

Welcome to AF.
This is a common problem on '97 and up Regal LS/GS models. You will probably need to replace the multifunction switch (MFS) - stalk. But first make sure the lamp socket is not bad and the ground wire is good. Plus measure for the flashing 12 volts at the socket with a DMM. The OEM and aftermarket MFS switches are expensive but you can save money if you do the work DIY. About a 1 hour job. Let me know if you need the DIY procedure.
On your stereo problem you may have a bad speaker affecting the others and the amp output.

I had the same trouble w/our 97' regal FL turn-signal; front wouldn't flash - rear would flash twice normal rate. Was intermitant for a while than one day quit completly. Traced wire back to the Daytime Running Lamp controller, had continuity all the way and not shorted to ground. Pulled the little white box, it had that burnt electronic smell. Opened it and noticed some chared components, about $120 bucks later works fine. The original part number was superseeded by about 3x's.

had same trouble w/our 97, had to replace the Daytime Running Lamp control under driver dash kick panel.
Thats interesting. For which problem are you referring to stated by the original poster? Turn signal or stereo?
