ok here it is, car was running perfectly, put over a 1000ks this weekend, no prob, wanted to wash the salt off, it was pretty bad, it is minus 30 here, obviously stupid, but what can i say! Was running fine, other then needing an oil change, just came due, turned the car off, went to go drive the wife back to work an hour later, wont start! Checked battery, no prob, put a heater on, plugged the block heater in, this morning car would start, but couldnt go into gear, an message saying running on reduced power, sucking gad when leaivng it run, moreso then usual, wont rev up, cant move it to get into a garage to heat it up more, put it on a tester, not reading at all. At a loss as what to do, any suggestions would help!

I have a new (6-week old) 2006 G6 GT (3.5l V6). I brought it to the dealer 3 times already because it wouldn't start! I noticed it would work fine first thing in the morning, then I would notice the temperature gauge would drop to zero (as if unplugged). The car would continue to run, but if I turned it OFF, then it would crank but wouldn't start (unless I let it cool down for an hour). First time the dealer replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor. They said to prevent overheat, the computer won't let the car start if it detects a failed temp sensor. 2nd time, they said "we found a service bulletin!" and they updated the power train control module software. About a week later, same thing! This time they replaced the computer! It's one week today and so far so good... except I noticed a couple times the temp gauge needle wouldn't "rest" at the same spot all the time, so I have a feeling the problem will come back.

Update: The problem came back as expected. As of today, the GM engineers don't know how to fix this problem and they are working on the problem. The only thing they know is that if you don't plug your car at night (block heater), you won't have the problem. They say it's a software issue. In the meantime, I also notice my temperature gauge "vibrates" every time I start and stop the engine. It used to do it once in a while. Now it does it EVERY time.

It turned out on our G6 that it was the battery, two tow jobs, one garage then the dealer! It was powering enough and ended up screwing with computer!, so that is why it was reducing power, was charging enough to start the car but not enough to run it, it was, but apprently has happened in another G6 they have had as well
