Hi everyone,

I have 105k miles in my 2002 Z71 and for other than oil changes and air filter changes; I have never done a tune-up on it. The dealer said one was not required until 100k miles. My Z71 runs like new and starts on the spot every morning; and I keep getting the same milage as originally clocked.

I would hate to bring it to a dealership for a tune-up, for I have not have any pleasant experiences with these fellows in the past (very slick people), that's why I'd like to know if anybody can put me on the right track as fas as having the first first tune-up done on my truck; i.e. what needs to be replaced at 100k mile? Also, brake and steering power fluids the originals. Transmission and differential fluid were raplaced at 60k miles. Is there a trusted link were I can obtain this info.

Thanks in advance,

leofig

As for the truck needing a tune up until 100k is a bag full of crap.I've been a tech for 23 years, none at a dealership, and that has to be one of my most disliked statements. The spark plugs CAN last 100k.The coolant CAN last 100k. So forth and so on. As for what to do,ask your friends, look around at the the local shops and not just the local ones. If it's within your range of acceptence find a little farther away if it has a good rep. The idea that a shop will rip you off is a little far fetched, but yes it happens,it is more like the in-ability to perform the work. People will tell you that a shop is good only if you ask but they will all tell you if it's bad.Ask around.
