Dumb "P" platers

I was driving home today from my cousins house and im about to miss a light so i speed up but i did end up missing it. When i was slowing down i saw a "P" plater so i purposely stop ahead of them so i couldn't see their face's.
They then creep up to look at me and i look at them and its a car of 4 girls. I think they were talking about me cos she wasn't paying attention to the light's, it turns green and i go(i took of abit hard so they might of got the wrong idea) then they go blasting past me and it looked like the girl didn't even really have good control of the car as i noticed a big wobble.
We then caught another set of lights and i was annoyed at her behavior on the road so i down shifted with the heel-toe technique(don't know why). when i looked at them and they're all laughing so i smile back. the girl is now trying to egg me on to race so i give my car little revs and i see the girl get ready to go.
I took of normaly and shifted to second as normal. The girl kept at my side saying let's go and i just looked at her and shook my head as to say no then she sped off and i took my turn into my street.
I am also a "P" plater, just got my license on the 3rd of January this year. I admit that i have taken a few turns a wee bit too quick but i have never sped maybe accidentally like whilst overtaking and was not intentional.
The reason it makes me angry is that those "P" platers with that kind of attitude gives all us "P" platers a bad name.
Not sure if you folks in America or around the world know about the status of "P" platers her but we are pretty much well hated on the roads because of the kind of drivers like the one i encountered today

If I'm not mistaken it's basically a new driver, just a step up from a learners permit so you can drive alone but you still have to complete training to get a full license.

O. Yea I had my run in w/ some of them. but i use to be one but for my entire first year of drivin i never got to drive alone unless it was to school or work. Both being about 2 miles away in other words walking distance.
I have had my run ins with some but mostly when i drove my olds cuz it was considered a "scraper" bow that i'm in the grand am everyone leaves me alone.

"P" plate's are license for first year driver's who no longer needs supervision whilst driving. There is two kinds of "P"s Provisional 1(RED "P") that's the newbies, and Provisional 2(GREEN "P")- you can take the test for this license after you have held your REDS for 12 months.
the idiots i have mentioned have already given us new laws(which i think is good) for first year "P" platers such as Zero points, no passengers between 11pm and 5am(i think) although allowed if emergency or they are a work partner, we also have a vehicle law- we can't drive Turbo/Super charged, V8, high powered 6 cylinder vehicles, and i think they have released a power to weight ratio thing.
IMO i think these laws are great even though I'm a car nut these laws make me drive safely, I'm too shit scared to speed cause sometimes cops just pop out of nowhere.

Yeah, just about every high school student in the US does that. But does our legislation do anything about it? Nooooooo. Nobody cares until little Jimmy wraps Daddy's vette around a tree.

why do you chuckle when people say they heel-toe?
Do you think i can't do it? I can but at times i give it too much revs, what can you expect I've only been driving for 3 weeks.
True they only learn their lesson when they crash, it's either they total their own/parents car or if they kill their friends(which has been happening lately).

do i think you can't do it?
no idea.
it's not exactly difficult when you're braking to a stop....
but that's not the same as double declutching and rev matching to drop speed for a hairpin now is it?
I chuckle because 99% of the time they aren't doing it properly and they don't even know it because of modern gearshifts and that lovely thing called synchromesh in it.
I chuckle because most kids that I hear talking about heel and toe-ing do for no reason other than to pretend they know something that makes them a "better" driver even though on the road with a synchromeshed gearbox, you're probably faster 99% of the time without doing it.
Unless of course, you're going from 60 to 15 at a right hander and need to go from 5th to 2nd.
I chuckle here because by your own admission, you don't why you did it (4 girls in a car perhaps?) and yet you are here complaining about the bad image P plate drivers get.
no idea.

I heel-toe, but its only to get the "feel" of it so one day maybe I can afford to go Skippy school, I heard some of their cars have the old dog-boxes. Plus I feel like I can rev match easier that way versus pushing the clutch all the way in then having to punch the rev's up when I'm going to accelerate.

Well i don't know if kids from America do it for no reason, but me i personally don't like the feel of the car if you don't use the technique before a turn though i mainly used it to catch a light, other than that i don't aleays do it.
I don't see how down shifting using heel-toe can set a bad image.
Cloak- don't know if your reffering to me but i never ran a red light, neither me or the girl did.
no idea.

There are very few drivers who can say that they never made a bad call. Most of us make dumb decisions at one time or another, but until you've been driving a little more than three weeks, you won't even realise how many opportunities there are to fuck things up, even in a simple trip across town.Get some more hours in behind the steering wheel before you crap all over the 'dumb P plater' next to you.

I have been driving for 3 weeks by myself as a "P" plater. I had to do 50 hours before i could take the test for my "P"s.
Yeah maybe i need more time behind the wheel, but that girl looked like she had little controll over the car, to wobble in a straight line means something

yeah the media is screwed up down her too. For one period all they focused on was "P" plater's crashing or speeding. but when i drive all i see is people who have been on the roads longer breaking the law eg. running red lights, not signaling when changing lanes, not signaling for round abouts.
Altough i have seen some bad "P" plater's who have done the things i have mentioned

+1
I'm from Sydney (south) and I get pissed off at people labeling all P plate drivers the same.
Oh, and by the way, you'll slowly grow to understand that it's the full licence drivers that are to blame.
Try doing 90 km'hr on the highway and watch them fly past you (speed limit 110), so you speed up to 100, and they still all pass you... so you speed up to 110... and they STILL fly past you.
/sigh

It may or may not have been said but If you're reading, learn to drive the best you can because you don't want to become a bad driver or worse, and there's plenty worse. Hotrodding never seemed to die, and I don't hate the fast drivers, I hate those that think they can do whatever they want, doesn't everyone hate them? Those girls are a perfect example. Try to tell them they're bad drivers and you get your nose bitten off. Luckily I've avoided such occurences so far.
Please, don't stop in the middle of the road turning right, just go because you're not gonna get hit if it's a green light, you may get rearended if you stop in the middle of a green light!!
This is a message to all drivers that have found AF, USE YOUR SIGNALS WHEN YOU CHANGE LANES!!!! maybe now we can change the world, like Eric Clapton says.

lol@shpyder....i know when i'm in the wrong and i was in the wrong, however lately i have been doing good:) .
@-Davo: mate you couldn't be more right, i do see a fair share of out of control "P" platers but most of the idiots on the road are the people with full license.
For example i'd be driving normaly to pick up my mum from work i'm doing about 5km/h below the speed limit then WHOOOSSHHH goes past the car that was behind me swerving in and out of traffic then another driver up ahead probably says to himself " Hey he didn't signal when he changed lanes....then neither am i" then another couple of drivers follow suite not only to nearly get in an accident but does that make them go slower NOOOOOOOOO!!!! it only makes then want to go faster to try and escape from their followers.
sorry for the little rant
i forgot about this thread and just now i stumbled across it to find new posts and i thought i would post about the little encounters with the drivers -Davo is talking about.
