My 99 Windstar LX saga had ended...

Things I had to fix on my windstar:
Blend door actuator (lucky for me it wan't the actual blend door!)
$53.00 1.5 hours labor.
Rebuilt Transmission
$1,454.00 !!!!
Interior Light Gremlin:
No cost but freaking HOURS of labor trying to figure it out. (Never did!)
#10 fuse blowing:
$25 (approx) for the sensor switch (should have been a recall!)
SEVERAL DAYS worth of tracing electrical circuits to determine that switch was bad. UGH!
Bolt fell out of A/C Clutch. Never fixed it. The compressor was close enough to the body that the clutch would not fall off. When I needed the A/C, I pulled over, shut off the engine, put on a glove and moved the clutch closer to the compressor and restarted the engine. When the compressor would engage (2 or 3 seconds) the clutch would suck up to the compressor and stay there so I would only have to do it once a day or so.
And finally....we come to today.
I traded that worthless piece of s#!^ off on an 05 Chevy Impala.
The body and interior was in excellent condition and they gave me $1,500. I took it and ran giggling.
Have fun guys.

Pay a visit to the impala room.....and read up on issues that people may have had with newer impalas......and take steps in your routine maintenance to prevent them from happening to your vehicle.
Not saying that the impala is a bad car.....in fact, I have not heard anything bad about it......
It is the advice that I would be giving for any vehicle.
Armed with information on a particular vehicle's weak points.....you can sometimes prevent problems in that area.

How many miles?
I fortunately am at the opposite end of the spectrum. My '99 LX currently has 172,000 miles and has been by far the most reliable car I've ever owned.
Aside from tires, brakes, belts, plugs, filters, fluids and bulbs, the only failures I've had were the alternator at 123,000 miles, and a water pipe at 157,000 miles.
I just recently did the isolator bolt fix and replaced the rear shocks and front struts. She's as good as new. :)
Good luck with the Chevy...

My tranny failed at 111K miles.
I've always had good luck with Chevy and GM products.

Hehee! I'm impressed with your manual actuation procedure for the a/c compressor!:grinyes: You are lucky that baby didn't grenade on you from low sucn or hi dishcarge pressure. Too cool and you will pull liquid back around to the suction and kaboom. Anyhoo.. good move on the Imp! Great cars, even better from a value standpoint when purchased second hand.
