It has been 3 days and no cigs. I took OZ's advice and put down tha ciggs and stuck to tha green. I know I am still smokin pot, but no more cigs. It is so hard, but I would rather chance getting fat from stopping than have a heart attack like my mom. I think tha attack she had on x-mas, really got to me. My jaw hurts from chewing gum and grinding my teeth all day. I find myself griping at my kids more, and I feel terrable after I do. It dosent seem to bother hubby, he quit a few months ago, so he understands. I can smell better. Before I could hardley smell anything. Now I CAN SMELL. That is awsome. I understand why hubby yells at me for using bleach on everything. It reeks. has anybody else here quit. if so how do you keep from gaining weight. Every one I know who quit has put on pounds. I try to keep from eating just to eat, I drink more coffee and chew more gum.....Sorry but I just needed to ramble a little. I am dying here, but in a weird way I feel better....ugggghhhhhh....I want it to stop.....:banghead:

I Smoked For 13 Years Before Quitting This New Year. I Had Three Cigs In The First Two Days. Was On Nicoderm For Four Days After, And I Am On My Third Day Of Being Completely Nicotine Free. It Is Truly One Of The Hardest Thing To Do, Studies Have Shown That It Is Harder To Quit Smoking Than It Is To Quit Heroin. Gongrats To You And Anyone Else Who Wishes For A Healthier Life.

I quite cold turkey sometime during the summer, i've been mostly fine since. had a couple lapses but never bought a pack. To be honest, karma, after the cravings and coughing lung butter and shit like that passed, you feel good. I used to smoke before class, 8 in the morning, now, it feels great to breathe in morning air, and just taste it and feel it. i can walk up flights of stairs w/o feeling out of breath. plus, it feels nice not be a slave to a product.

umm, doubt that, seen it first hand, and following consequences... what studies?

ive heard the same, and my friend did quit heroin, but hes still hooked on cigs! not to say that means anything, just 1 for the cigs being harder.

Karmacae, some tips:
-When you feel like HELL and get grumpy with your kids, tell yourself it's your bodies way of repairing the damage you have done.
-Take up some form of intense cardiovacular excercise. Not only will this keep the pounds off, it will give you something positive to focus your new found energy on.
-Stop drinking as much coffee! The caffeine will dehydrate you, making you feel worse, and this will probably interfere with your sleep patterns. Try having a maximum of 2 cups a day.
-Get a Vapouriser for your weed. A small hand held one that works is called the "Vapour Genie", I have one and it works. Or get a cheap hotplate model. You can still have your green without smoking anything at all!
-DO NOT SMOKE! Even one is a failure and you're a smoker again.
-Keep going the full course on the gum - quitting smoking is hard enough without the nicotine withdrawals.

It's a very tough monkey to get off your back, best of luck with it. Keep us up to date with how you go (and be honest) :)

well last night i started painting a pic of my boy to keep my hands too buisy to pick a cig up. concentrating on getting tha right color tends to make me forget and relax. I havent painted in years. Not like this. So I guess it is a good thing

The gum I chew is normal gum, not that quit smokin stuff.

"Get a Vapouriser for your weed. A small hand held one that works is called the "Vapour Genie" what does this vapourizer do...No really is it like the ones for when you are sick. I never herd of that.

The Volcano is the MOST EXPENSIVE vapouriser on the market, also the best in many opinions.

There are many other options starting from about $40.

Go, Karma, go!

Best of luck, scratch that, best of willpower to do what you've decided to do.

as for the vaporizer, well the THC evaporates at a lower temperature than the marijuana burns. so when you use one you're getting all the THC and all the high without the carcinogens, tar, smoke, etc. it's just THC and water (vapor). i've never used one but a friend of mine has and he sais it's really fun, you smoke it and you don't think anything of it, then you get baked off your ass. i think it also releases more THC than smoking so the same ammount of weed will get you more high with a vap.

i put a thread up in another forum in 'off-topic' about quitting.
gah.
my girl just bought a pack.
i don't think this whole not smoking is gonna work much longer.
i find it incredibly difficult to quit when everyone i know smokes.
i'll keep at it, though.
as long as i can.

Good luck with not smoking!

I've had brief periods for the past three years when I smoke, then I let them go for a few months and start again for no particular reason. I haven't really noticed any difference between smoking and not smoking but I did notice an increase in hunger a few days after I quit. :uhoh: I've started going to a gym regularly and it keeps me away from the smoke.
