Screwed myself again

Yes, I graduated high school in June 01 and went to college in August 01 . It is now about to be 2007 and I still haven't graduated. I thought I was about to finally do so following the Spring 07 semester. But no, I have screwed myself yet again. I didn't know that my taking off a semester had resulted in me being reclassified as an Inactive Student, preventing me from being able to register without applying for readmission. Of course the readmission application deadline passed in November.
In an attempt to remedy this, I sent an email to my school's registrar explaining the situation. My main defense was that I had been on internship from March to September and attended classes at the local university (with approval from my dean) from August to December. I figured that maybe it would somehow qualify me to be considered an active student, but I found out today that the credits from the classes I took had not been relayed to my school because I was missing a signature on the credit transfer form :banghead:
So here is my current list of problems caused primarily by my own idiocy:
I am not a student at Florida A&M UNiversity
I cannot register for my final 5 required classes
I will not graduate Spring 2007 as expected
I don't know if all the classes I need will be offered in the summer
I haven't received credit for the classes I took this past semester
I agreed a month ago to let my friend/temporary roommate ride down to Tallahasse with me... he has no other way
I am supposed to finally see my lady again after far too long and I don't think I can wait another semester
So at this rate it seems I might graduate in Fall 2012 if I'm lucky. Just thought I'd share in my current misery. :frown:

I don't wear this crown for nothin http://santafemods.com/images/Smileys/king2.gif
But seriously, if I wasn't so unprepared for college bueracracy (sp?) I could have graduated a year ago. This is just one of a long string of episodes where I set myself up for failure at my school, but this time I thought I had graduation firmly in my grasp... prognosis: negative :headshake

I'm 99% sure I'll get credit for the classes eventually, but right now the fact that I don't have the proper paperwork is working against me

So it seems my decision has been made for me today. I explained all the happenings to my mom and she basically told me (in her momly way) to take my ass back to florida and hope for the best. It seems she enjoyed the 5 years of me living on my own as much as I did.

good to hear that your mom loves you hahaha. well good luck on the situation, normally i'd tell you what i tell everyone in any situation that'll increase the time they spend in university, "don't worry about it, what's one more year." but i completely understand that you'd want to get out of there seeing as how nobody wants to be the next Van Wilder. so i guess good luck is all i can say.

Just another person claiming they were 'screwed by the system' when in reality they hadn't found out how the 'system' worked.

FAMU is okay. There have been a LOT of administrative problems in the last 3 years and slowly they seem to be getting smoothed out. But depending on your major, it can be a worthwhile experience.
Right now I managed to become readmitted and enrolled in 3 of my 5 needed classes. Now I have to hunt down professors to get overrides for the last 2. I also got my graduation application moving, just gotta get some signatures and forms from a few places.

good luck with that. i hate university beureaucracy, it's so complicated and frustrating and nobody knows where the hell you're supposed to go. thank god for engineering they've got a counsellor specifically meant to make you succeed, he makes sure you have all the right courses, makes sure you don't fail, etc. i tried to cram an elective into my schedule last semester and spent hours (probably a good 2-3 hours combined, i spent 1.5hours in one sitting though) trying to find one that i was allowed to take that would also fit into my schedule. didn't end up getting one so i'll have to take one during the summer or something. i found one for this semester though, basic marketing, sounds ok so i'm happy with that.
anyways i'm rambling because it's late, good luck with the sigs, and good luck finding your profs, they can be bitches to find sometimes.

So I thought I was finally finished today when my advisor did a new graduation audit for me and realized that last time he overlooked an elective that I need as well as added incorectly when transfering credits from my old major. So I won't be graduating this semester, I have to wait until summer. But if he had just told me about the missing credits in July, I could have taken them during last semester at the university in chicago
I can't even say that I'm mad that he set me back or that I'm not graduating. At this point I'm just numb to the entire situation. At least now I don't have to run around like a madman looking for signatures in my graduation application... untill summer :shakehead

Don't feel bad. I graduated high school in 92' and didn't finish university until 99'... It seemed like the party just kept going, next thing I know I was taking a year and a half or more off from school. But when my ass got kicked into gear I graduated top 10%. BTW, when I did start back at university I got a DUI. My dad was mad but he was happy that I was drinking at the most popular watering hole in town. WTF?
Anyway, don't worry about it... at least you'll be graduating from college.
