Hey everybody, My father owns a few carlots and we recently traded for a 2000 z3, the car is in very good shape and we have the "right" money in it. I have been thinking of buying something just to help me build some credit (I'm just 21) so when I saw this car I thought it would be a great car to buy, clean up and fix up myself and then retail the car. Then I was showing the car to a friend of mine and he came up with the idea that I should just keep it and play with it and start racing, possibly scca or something. So I am looking for some information as to how much I will have to spend on this car to make it a fun car on the track, as well as competitive. And a little info on racing itself and what clubs, organizations would be good to start off with. I'm located in KY/TN. This really sounds like alot of fun, especially since I have a passion for cars anyway. Thanks

I drive the exact same ('00) and while it handles great, not only is it a pain in the ass to work on (look under the hood at the lack of space) but it also doesn't respond to mods well from what I've heard.
Also, if you're looking to eventually resell it, don't touch it. A modded car's value drops almost as much as crashing it. Seriously. (Unless you're talking '60/'70 muscles, but that's different...)
Anyway, I would recommend against modding it.
